Community Garden Project

Grove has been looking at the land it owns between Ritchie Street and Ivan Street and has secured funding from Belfast City Council and the Alpha Programme* to create a community garden on both the open paved area and on the grassed area between the terraces. Pedestrian access between Ritchie Street and Ivan Street will be maintained. The funding will also provide a mural along the Community-Garden-Project-21railway wall. Work on the detailed design for the community garden is about to start and Grove will be seeking the views of local residents before anything is settled. The plan is to have the garden ready in time for planting next spring.Community-Garden-Project-1

* The Alpha Programme allocates its funding through the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme, which helps improve the lives of communities living within a 10 mile radius of the Mullaghglass landfill site at Castlerobin on the outskirts of Lisburn. The programme is managed by Goundwork NI.
